best match them with rabbits who are appropriate for their home and
family. Screening requires the completion of our adoption
application and interview to determine your level of rabbit
experience and your preferences and/or expectations of a rabbit. Our
goal is to make the best match for the rabbit and the home, ensuring
a life long adoption for the rabbit.
We do not hold adoption events that are

This training seminar
is for volunteers who would like to participate in our off-site
education booths at community events. These events include Earth
Fair, the CVC West Vet Conference, street fairs, schools, etc.
Education Director
Patricia Mulcahy will share the HRS philosophy and keys to staffing
a successful education booth. She'll also share tips on how to
"educate with kindness" in order to best get out our message of
rabbits as indoor family companions.

Shelter Rabbit Adoption Event

This
adoption event, hosted by San Diego HRS, features rescued rabbits
from the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility. This shelter has
many wonderful rabbits looking for new homes. HRS volunteers will be
on hand to answer your questions and help you determine if a rabbit
is the right companion for your family. Application and adoption fee
required.

Monthly Speaker Series
Caring for Your Disabled Rabbit
4 to 6 p.m.

Fee: $5 donation at door
Join us for our monthly
speaker series, where we invite our community to join us in a fun,
social event. This month's topic "Caring for Your
Disabled Rabbit," is presented by volunteer Amy Spintman.
Amy has a wealth of experience in caring for disabled rabbits.
Her website,
www.catsandrabbitsandmore.com, has a special section devoted to
disabled rabbits and she also hosts an email list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/disabledrabbits/.
Amy will share advice and tips on housing, nutrition, nursing care,
and quality of life issues for rabbits who have a variety of
physical disabilities.
Socialize with your fellow bunny
slaves, enjoy our informative presentation, and share yummy
refreshments. We'll also update you on upcoming events and
volunteer needs.
We can use a few volunteers to help
with setup, taking donations at the door, and refreshments.

event is funded through a grant by the Mitchell Family Foundation
and hosted by San Diego HRS. Partnering with the Spay Neuter
Action Project, SDHRS will have the Neuter Scooter on-site for a
first-ever "rabbit only" spay/neuter event.

procedure for your rabbit.
