Local Rabbit Rescue Struggling after burglary (Fox 5)

SAN DIEGO — A local rabbit rescue is struggling to survive after its storage supply was recently broken into.
San Diego’s House Rabbit Society in Kearny Mesa offers a home for lost and abandoned rabbits.
The small nonprofit lost about $1,000 worth of goods when someone cut off the locks of a storage container and stole most of their supplies, including most of the hay used to feed the rabbits.
“They took everything from work gloves to dust masks for the volunteers to wear,” said Judith Pierce, manager of San Diego’s House Rabbit Society.
“When you’re a small nonprofit like us, you feel really hurt, because how could somebody do that to you?” she said. “It may not seem like much, but we count every penny.”
The small rescue is now surviving on what little they have left and some donations.
Pierce has put new locks on the storage containers’ doors in hopes it doesn’t happen again.
