Team Lead

Position Summary:

The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that daily operations of the shelter is run in a professional and efficient manner with attention to cleanliness and organization.  The Team Lead provide ongoing care of the general shelter operations (following Standard Operating Procedures) and ensures that the staff are held to the highest of standards when it comes to the care of our rabbits.

Compensation:

$20.00 per hour

The position is provided with, sick time, vacation, health insurance and life insurance and access to the Cal Savers program

 Job Hours:

Days of duty:  Minimum 40 hour work week with a minimum of 4 days at the shelter and one floating day. In the beginning, will be 5 days at the shelter for training purposes.

Schedule is determined by the Executive Director on a monthly basis.

General Duties & Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day activities of the team

  • Motivating the team to achieve organizational goals

  • Developing and implementing a timeline to achieve targets

  • Delegating tasks to team members

  • Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts

  • Conducting training of team members to maximize their potential

  • Empowering team members with skills to improve their confidence, product knowledge, and communication skills

  • Creating a pleasant working environment that inspires the team.

  • Suggest and organize team building activities

  • Aid in creating SOPs (standard operating procedures) for the organization

  • Participate in our Culture of Philanthropy by creating, promoting and attending community outreach, education and fundraising events for the organization and educating guests on our lifesaving programs and inspiring them to donate

Rabbit Care – Core Function

  • As needed, maintain the Adoption Center as a whole, keeping the Adoption Center in a clean and sanitary condition.

  • As needed, provide careful, ongoing observation of rabbits throughout the Adoption Center to see that the rabbits are safe, healthy, clean, comfortable, and on a suitable diet.

  • As needed, work cooperatively with managers and volunteers as a team to ensure that all rabbits receive proper care, strive to improve the quality of life for rabbits in our care.

  • Exhibit a humane and caring attitude at all times towards the rabbits in our care.

  • Use a humane and safe approach in all handling and restraint of rabbits, striving to maintain safety and security for the rabbits, staff, volunteers, and the public.

  • Aid in designing and maintaining SDHRS services including the foster, adoption, grooming and boarding program

  • Aid in maintaining the SDHRS Medical/Health Program

  • Maintain and adhere to on-going Adoption Center protocols and SDHRS standard operating procedures.

  • Assist on projects as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Manager.

  • Maintain a positive, respectful role, promote and exemplify Adoption Center values and represent SDHRS objectives and mission statement to customers and volunteers.

  • Follow up on complaints, questions, and concerns; respond to customer and volunteer needs in a friendly, timely and efficient manner or refer to Executive Director or Manager.

  • Updates the Daily Updates.

Store – Core Function

  • Ensures that all employees follow SDHRS policies and procedures. Proactively communicates issues to the Executive Director or Manager for resolution.

  • Provides any training and communicates clear instructions the Manager may need.

  • Monitors staff and volunteers’ participation to ensure the training  is implemented, and evaluates if any additional training is needed.

  • Manages the flow of day to day operations of the Bunny Store.

  • Updates the Daily Updates.

Rabbit Care/Store – Shelter Operations

  • Donor Program – Examples include

  • Aid in cross-referencing our project management boards to the donor program

  • Aid in maintaining our monthly donor program

Build the Shelter and Store Inventory and Online Store up – Examples include:

  • Store Promotions

  • Vendor management

  • Ordering supplies for shelter and store

  • Maintain inventory counts and supplies for shelter and store

  • Research new online store applications and POS systems

Supplementary – Examples include:

  • Maintain COGS, sales and inventory databases

  • CCR organization

  • Admin File Management

  • Participate with other Team Leads in committee interviewing of candidates

  • Aid in social media marketing and pr management with other Team Leads and Key Holders

Qualifications

  • Minimum BA/BS or Associates degree

  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License

  • Previous animal handling experience preferred

  • Must be proficient in G-suite and Microsoft office software and can learn new computer software

  • Previous experience in volunteering at an animal shelter preferred.

  • Previous experience in leading staff or volunteers preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required to Perform the Job

 Ability to problem-solve, multi-task and have excellent organizational skills. Familiarity  with Microsoft and Google computer programs. Good communication skills and speaking with the public, both written and verbal.

Must be able to lift and carry up to and including 50 pounds.  Stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending and/or reaching to access product or to clean; walking to various areas in the Adoption Center; comfortable in communicating information with the general public.
