Medical Needs Rabbit: Pippa
Pippa is a gentle, loving girl who first found her forever family through SDHRS back in 2015. Since that day, she and her inseparable partner, Bowie, have shared every hop, binky, and cuddle together. Sadly, after the loss of their owner’s human partner and some difficult life changes, Pippa and Bowie are now looking for a fresh start with a new family who can love them just as much.
Pippa has a history of bladder sludge, and recently her condition has become more challenging. She has been losing weight, her poop has been inconsistent, and she sometimes sits hunched as if she’s uncomfortable. At her most recent vet visit, our veterinarian suspected E. cuniculi as a possible cause. Because a complete blood sample couldn’t be drawn, Pippa has started medication while we try again for better testing. If she doesn’t improve within the week, the vet is concerned there could be a central nervous system issue at play. Other possibilities include heart disease or spinal problems, and an ultrasound may be needed to help with diagnosis.
Despite these medical challenges, Pippa remains bonded with Bowie, and we are committed to finding them a home together. She will need an adopter who is experienced, patient, and prepared to support her ongoing medical care. These two buns have already shown that love and companionship can carry you through life’s hardest moments. They deserve a safe, stable, and caring home where they can continue to thrive—together.
