Transport Volunteer

Transport Volunteers play a vital role in the safety and well-being of our rabbits by helping them get where they need to go! These volunteers assist with driving bunnies between the SDHRS facility and various destinations, including:

  • Veterinary appointments within San Diego County

    • Shelter transfers, which may range from Los Angeles County to San Diego County

Most transport needs happen in the early mornings or afternoons, so flexibility during those times is especially helpful.

Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license

  • Reliable transportation

  • Comfortable handling carriers with rabbits

  • Willingness to coordinate and communicate via Slack

Your help ensures that rabbits receive timely medical care and safe passage to their next chapter. Whether it's a quick vet run or a rescue mission from a shelter, your driving makes a life-saving difference!

Volunteer Requirements:

  • The minimum age to volunteer is 16.  Volunteers between the age of 16 and 18 will be required to have a parent or guardian on site for the entirety of their shift.  Parents will also be required to complete a parental consent form.

  • Access to email since all volunteer communication is done via email or slack

  • Ability to complete training with staff

Application Process:

  • Complete our online application here.

  • You will receive a link to our self-guided volunteer information session.

  • Fill out the form at the end of the session.

  • Schedule a virtual one on one appointment with a SDHRS staff member to go over our requirements and to schedule your first training day.
